Henley in Bloom continues to thrive encouraging all residents to become involved in making
the town look colourful and clean the whole year round. HRG is committed to supporting these
events and indeed many of the organisers are HRG councillors and members.
In 2008 we succeeded in being awarded a Silver Gilt and winning the best Town Category once
again. We also encouraged Valley Road School to enter for the Mark Mattock Cup in which they
gained a Highly Commended. Our Chairman, HRG Councillor Liz Hodgkin, was also awarded an
outstanding achievement award for special services to Britain in Bloom.

Last Autumn we planted 4,000 crocus and 1000 tulip bulbs and we are now beginning to see the
fruits of our labour. Also last year we formed the "Gardening Buddies" - a group of individual
enthusiasts, mainly HRG members, who go out and plant up various areas such as the Reading Road
and Fair Mile entrances and Mill Meadows flower beds. Should you wish to take part please
get in touch.
We are always looking for sponsorship. Last year we attracted very good support from for
example Pier24, Toad Hall Garden Centre, The Henley Standard and Southern Plant Hire to name
a few. We are always looking for further sponsorship, either cash or services. For 2009 we
already we have on board Hotel du Vin and the Henley Standard.
