Terry has consistently polled the highest number of votes in local elections
and is a very popular and well known figure in Henley. The proposal was
seconded by Cllr Chris Pye and all councillors voted in favour.
In his acceptance speech Terry said how proud he was to be elected for a second
term as Mayor having been previously elected in 1996/7. He thanked his family,
particularly the new Mayoress, Pauline, for all their support and help during
his 12 years on the Town Council. He said he will work hard to represent the
views of all residents and would be a fair and impartial Mayor in his
leadership of the Council.
To accompany Terry in his special year, his Deputy Mayor will be Councillor
Gill Zakss, who was again voted unanimously into her position by Town
Councillors. Gill was proposed by Cllr Bill Gibson and seconded by Cllr Liz
Hodgkin.
HRG councillors are proud and pleased that they had the opportunity to propose
these two outstanding and hard working councillors into their new
responsibilities. We all wish them well for a successful and interesting year
in representing our town and residents.
