HRG Mayor Liz Hodgkin said, 'Whilst talking to residents this past week we found many still concerned about the future of Townlands Hospital and in particular what exactly is planned for both the healthcare and the rest of this important town centre site. If elected I shall make it one of my priorities at the District Council to ask the right questions of the Planning Department to make sure Henley has a voice in the decisions taken. It was good to hear peoples’ views on the by election and to get so much support. I am trying to speak to as many people as I can over the next two weeks and it certainly helps to make sure I understand people’s concerns and what they would like me to do for them at the District Council.”
Town Council candidate for HRG Pauline Buckett said, 'Many residents are still concerned that the household waste collection service is still not functioning as well as it could do. I intend to take this up at the first council meeting I can … when elected of course. I have enjoyed starting to canvas in the streets near to where I live, and also talking to people about their interests in our town. It has been hard work but good to listen to people and I hope they will come out and vote for both Liz and me on February 11th.'
